In the Trace of Light Project
“In the Trace of Light” is a photography and video-based empowerment project initiated by the Haluk Akakçe Foundation in Hatay, in collaboration with the
Serdar Demir Children’s Homes Site, under the auspices of the Ministry of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Türkiye and Art Initiative With Youth.
The project supports girls aged 14–17 in developing self-expression, creative confidence, and the capacity to participate as independent individuals in social and economic life.
“In the Trace of Light” is not only about artistic production, but about voice.
Photography and video become tools for agency.
The project encourages participants to:
- Develop self-expression
- Build visual storytelling skills
- Strengthen confidence
- Envision themselves as active participants in future economic and social life
Twenty cameras were procured by the Foundation and permanently donated to the children’s home.
The works produced during the project will be exhibited in Hatay and Istanbul, and published in a dedicated catalogue
